Started New Book!

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

I started the new book, tentatively titled THE WEDDING TREE, on Sunday, and by now I’ve finished the prologue and about half of chapter one. As always, it’s fun starting a new book. This third book in the Simpson Creek Spinsters series will finally give Prissy Gilmore, friend of Sarah Matthews and a founding member of the Spinsters’ Club, her story. For her match I’ve given her a rascal. I’ve been writing such serious men lately–preacher/lawman Jude Tucker in HILL COUNTRY CHRISTMAS, revenge-driven Sandoval Parrish in THE OUTLAW’S BRIDE, and most recently, Dr. Nolan Walker in SOMEONE FOR SARAH, the book I just turned it. So it’s time for a rascal, I think, and I think Sam Bishop will fit the bill….

My next book to review for Waterbrook just arrived today, YOU WERE BORN FOR THIS by Bruce Wilkinson. I’m looking forward to starting to read this book this evening. This time the publisher sent me something extra–a copy to give away! Be sure to watch this blog for the time to enter a comment and perhaps win the book!

For those who read my earlier blog, I finally finished achieving the renewal of my basic CPR card. Ahead lies the renewal course for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), always an ordeal, and a necessary evilĀ  I have to go through every two years for my nurse job. Then after that–the A.C.F.W conference in Denver! I can’t wait!

Blogging on Petticoats and Pistols today–come visit!

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

I’m on www.petticoatsandpistols.com (Petticoats and Pistols) blog today talking about THE OUTLAW’S LADY and old-time photography. I love that blog! It’s made up of some of the premier writers of western romance today, and it’s really popular, so even the guest blogger gets lots of comments. I hope you’ll visit there today and leave a comment.

I’m back from my Cape Cod trip with my bff (Best Friend Forever) Pru. We had a wonderful time at the Sesuit Harbor House and motel un East Dennis–kudos to the wonderful hostess and workers there. We walked (almost got heat stroke that first day there), went to the beach–wonderful place!–ate at some very fine restaurants and shopped till we dropped at Provincetown, where our only regrets were in what we *should* have bought and in not having more stamina. We also got in a visit with Pru’s sister Pam and her friend Judy at the Lighhouse Inn and Hotel. I would have loved to have one more day for beaching or maybe a whale-watching expedition.

Tomorrow it’s back to work. I need to get my annual requirements done for “the other job” and get a new book started this next week. This time it’s Prissy’s turn to be the heroine in a Simpson Creek Spinsters Club story.

SOMEONE FOR SARAH’s done–OUTLAW’S LADY IS OUT!

Monday, August 10th, 2009

300x250spotlight1I finished SOMEONE FOR SARAH and sent it off to my editor and agent–ta da! 9 days early! I’m taking a few days off to catch up and breathe, not counting when I’ve been engaged in a futile attempt to succeed in my hospital’s new method of getting CPR cards renewed online. Quelle frustration! I haven’t figured out yet if it’s because Firefox won’t play nice with the program or (more likely) it’s just a very flawed way to do things. More complex does not always =better.

Tomorrow, though, I’m going to Boston where I’ll meet up with my best friend Pru and go out to Cape Cod for 3 relaxing days. I’m looking forward to really experiencing summer finally and lots of relaxing, sunning, seashore, and shopping.

Meanwhile, THE OUTLAW’S LADY is out THIS WEEK!!!!!!! Remember, Love Inspired Historicals are ONLY out for 1 month–in this case, mid-Aug. to mid-Sept. Easiest place to get it is Walmart, or online. Hope you enjoy it! Please write and tell me know.
